DEADLINE 21.04

Japanese electronic music artists based in Berlin

time frame: three weeks between 1st and 26th of June, with the possibility of an earlier start - to be discussed

place: Berlin and Cracow

fee: the work is paid. the fee will be discussed with the selected artist.

For his upcoming project to be realized already in June 2025 and to be presented at the Manggha Museum in Cracow on June 26th, Karol Tyminski is seeking a Japanese musician from the field of electronic music. The person should be available to work throughout the entire month of June in Berlin and be available to travel to Poland in the mean time. The exact days will be discussed with the selected artist.

The work commissioned my Asia Europe Foundation is going to be created as a site-specific performance for the Manggha Museum in Cracow. As Tyminski’s work explores artistic means of sensitising one towards the inanimate, by evoking the sensation of blurring distinctions between the materiality of the human body and physical surrounding, the building of the museum will become in the performance a partner in choreographic and music explorations. The concrete architecture is going to be presented as a living entity - a landscape, elements of which co-affect each other in a transformative dance the human can dissolve into.

The musician preferably should be interested in working with a rather raw quality of sound, possibly weaved together with contrasting propositions. Soundscaping, off and up-beat compositions, which can go in pair with a delivery of text is the direction. If you have experience in working in dance and performance projects it is a plus but not a must. Definitely openness towards experimentations and taking directions from the director is important.
